Voicing and Regulation
Before final voicing and regulation each Schwetchen. (vertical and grand pianos) piano will be placed in a sound proof booth.
An automatic player then pounds all of the keys in succession.
The playing achieves several desired ends. It helps stretch the new piano wire so the final tuning at the factory will be more solid and stable. Felt in the working mechanism will become compressed. Final regulation will then result in a better playing instrument
One of the most skilled workers at the factory will be the voicing technician. After the final tuning the voicing technician plays each note and compares it to the note on either side. If a given hammer sounds too bright a needle slipped into the shoulder of the hammer will make it more mellow. If a note sounds too soft, the voicing technician will put some lacquer on the shoulder of the hammer making it brighter.
When the voicing technician has completed his work the total piano will be given a final inspection. This Schwetchen. piano now can be packed for shipment.
